Armenian Legends: Mount of Ara (AraiLer)
According to the popular Armenian legend, Shamiram caught up the king of the Armenians - Ara the Beautiful, and for the last time asked him if he wished to be her husband. Having received a new refusal, she furiously deprived him of his life. The mountain on which Ara the Beautiful was killed then was named Arailer (Mount of Ara).
Semiramis (Armenian: Shamiram) was the legendary Lydian-Babylonian wife of Onnes and Ninus, succeeding the latter to the throne of Assyria.
Ara the Beautiful (also Ara the Handsome; Armenian: Ara Geghetsik) is a legendary Armenian hero. He is sometimes associated with the historical king of Ararat known as Arame who ruled in the 9th century BC.
