Old quarters of the town are built in the best traditions of Armenian town-planning culture of 19th century. Hdrout is the second, after Shoushi,handicraft center of Artsakh. 

In the suburbs of Martakert, there have been duscovered lots of fascinating resembling human being stone idols of pagan epoque,stone sarcophagus, capitals of pagan temples.

Martouni town has a Palace of Culture which was built like the building of Opera and Ballet Theatre in Yerevan. Town church was constructed in 2005.
